Owners Janean & Bill Huston own a small ranch in the unincorporated west end of Escondido, an area known as Eden Valley & Harmony Grove. They share their ranch with 2 dogs, 8 horses (it's an addiction!), and Janean's mom also lives onsite (the 90+ rose bushes out front are hers!).

Bill & Janean met at the MCAS Miramar Stables were they previously boarded their horses. The had a "stable" relationship and got married in 1998. A few years later, when Bill retired from the Marine Corps, they purchased their current property, Huston Ranch. Together they founded HOUNDS TO HORSES which "officially" became a business in January 2003, specializing in Dog Boarding, Retirement Horse Boarding, and Pet Sitting. Both Bill & Janean where raised with a varied of animals, each bringing 50++ years of animal expertise to the business.

Janean_HoneyHug, Owner of Hounds To Horses

>> Janean (Owner) is a graduate from San Diego State University, and worked in sales & marketing most of her "corporate" life. As Janean departed from a career as a Senior Radio Market Executive, she turned her energies and passion for animals into establishing Hounds To Horses Pet Services in 2003.

Janean joined Pet Sitters International (2003-2013), and has attended a Pet First Aid class held by the Escondido Humane Society. Janean was the youngest person (at that time) to be elected to the San Diego State Alumni Association, Board of Directors (1994-2000), and she has also served as Co-President of the Kappa Delta Sorority House Corporation at SDSU for several years until 2009.

In 2008, she was the first "Non-Pro" rider ever to be elected to the So CA Professional Horseshow Association (SCPHA) Board of Directors, helping to put on an annual Open Horse Show series. Additionally, as Co-President of Friends Of Eden Valley, she now donates many hours to attending a variety of meeting with the goal of maintaining a rural environment in her community (ie: fighting irresponsible development).  Janean meets regularly with other local Professional Pet Sitters for "yappy hour" to network, and is dedicated to caring for animals as a full-time Professional Pet Sitter since 2003.
